Member to Member Account Transfers
Arkansas Federal Credit Union recognizes the fact that members need the ability to transfer funds from accounts under one member number to accounts under another member number.
With member-to-member transfer that is now possible! If you are listed jointly on ANY AFCU membership, you may now transfer money from one member number to another through Account Access. First, you will need to contact the Call Center and request that member to member transfers be enabled on any accounts that you are listed jointly. Once this has been enabled, you will login to Account Access and select the Account Transfers tab. Select what membership/account you would like to transfer money FROM. Then select the membership/account that you would like to transfer money TO. AFCU members may also schedule recurring transfers through Account Access with the Scheduled Account Transfers tab.
To request member-to-member transfer, simply contact our Call Center at 501.982.1000 in central Arkansas or 800.456.3000 outside central Arkansas and speak with one of our Call Center Representatives during normal business hours.
Skip-A-Payment
Members in good standing may choose to skip their monthly credit card payment two times during the year. If you receive your credit card statement in June and December, and you notice a $0 minimum payment amount then you owe nothing for that monthly payment (interest continues to accrue on the balance). You may use the extra cash for a well-deserved night out with the family, home repairs, or just a budget break.
25-Day Grace Period on Purchases
You have 25 days to repay your balance for purchases before a finance charge on purchases will be imposed. If the new balance is not paid in full within 25 days, a finance charge will apply to both the balance remaining (including current billing cycle transactions) and to all transactions during succeeding billing cycles until the new balance is paid in full.
In-House Account
Because your credit card account history is maintained at Arkansas Federal, answers to your questions or problems are as close as our telephone or nearest branch office. You will enjoy dealing in person with people you already know and trust.
Cash Advances
Need cash on the run? Use your credit card to get a cash advance through our 24-Hour Touch-Tone Teller (If you call prior to 3:00 P.M. Central Time on a business day, your check is mailed the same day), a credit union-owned ATM, or any ATM worldwide. Cash advances may also be obtained by presenting your credit card at any Arkansas Federal branch location, or if out of state, at the financial institution nearest to you. Cash Advances from your credit card may also be obtained by using Online Account Access to transfer money from your credit card Account to your Share Savings or Checking Account. With Arkansas Federal credit cards, there are no transaction fees charged on cash advances and unlike other financial institution's credit cards, cash advances with Arkansas Federal credit cards are charged the same low interest rate as purchases.
$0 Liability Fraud Protection
Use your credit card to shop online, in a store, or anywhere, and you are protected from unauthorized use of your card or account information. With the Zero Liability policy, your liability for unauthorized transactions is $0-you pay nothing! Zero Liability policy means 100% protection for you. Should someone steal your card number while you are shopping, online or off, you pay nothing for their fraudulent activity. If you notice fraudulent activity on your card, promptly contact Arkansas Federal to report it. It is important to monitor your monthly statement to identify any unauthorized transactions.
Falcon Alert helps Prevent Debit and Credit Card Fraud
Arkansas Federal Credit Union subscribes to a state-of-the-art technology called Falcon, to help prevent potential debit and credit card fraud. Based on previous card usage, if a debit or credit card purchase looks suspicious, we’ll try to contact you at your primary, secondary or alternate phone numbers to verify if the card was used by its rightful owner—or determine if the account has fallen into the wrong hands. If the account is being used fraudulently, we can prevent additional activity from occurring.
For Falcon to work, you may receive a call from an AFCU representative asking you about the purchase made with your AFCU Visa® Check Card (also known as a debit card), VISA® Classic, Visa® Secured Credit or Platinum Rewards MasterCard®. We'll ask you to take a moment to verify your debit card or credit card account activity. Note: AFCU will not ask you any debit or credit card number specifics or AFCU account specifics.
What You Can Do to Help
Because the Falcon system relies heavily on accurate contact information, it’s important for members to keep that information current. Please keep AFCU informed of your current address and phone numbers. If you move or change your phone, you can complete a change of address form to update your address or phone numbers or add any additional contact phone numbers.
Traveling Out of the Area?
If you are planning to travel and use your AFCU debit or credit card in an area where you don’t usually use your card, please take note of the following information. Contact AFCU that you are planning on traveling outside your area and provide us with the dates and locations that you plan on traveling to so that we can notify Falcon. It's best to have more than one method for spending and payments. Besides your AFCU debit or credit card, take an additional form of payment, such as travelers cheques. Our Card Services Department may not be able to contact you if you are in a foreign country for instance, and you want to make sure you have another method of payment if your card is temporarily blocked due to unusual activity. For more information, call 501.982.1000 or 800.456.3000 for more details.
Automatic Overdraft Protection
Your Arkansas Federal Credit Cards also serve as automatic Overdraft Protection for your Free Checking Account. In the event that you write checks in excess of your checking balance, cash advances are transferred from your Credit Card Account directly into your Checking Account in $1.00 increments.
Debt Cancellation – Prepare for the Unexpected
Many events in life come unexpectedly; with AFCU’s debt cancellation you can protect your family from the unexpected. By purchasing AFCU’s low-cost debt cancellation protection, you would have the peace of mind that your family would be covered in the event that you and/or your co-borrower were to become unemployed, disabled or if an unexpected death were to occur.
Debt cancellation works by cancelling some or all of your debt when a protected event does occur. This flexible protection plan will allow you and/or your co-borrower to choose from coverages that best fit your lifestyle.
Fees for debt cancellation protection are calculated and applied monthly to the decreasing balance of your loan. You only pay for what you need. Protect yourself against that unforeseen event.
What Debt Cancellation does for You:
- Makes your loan payments
- Protects your credit rating
- Protects you if your spouse dies
- Prevents late fees
- Prevents repossessions of property
For additional information regarding AFCU’s debt cancellation contact a Call Center representative at 501-982-1000 or 800-456-3000 or by visiting one of our convenient branch locations.
