Arkansas Federal Named Military Friendly Employer and Military Spouse Friendly Employer

12/19/2023

Arkansas Federal Credit Union is proud to announce that it has earned two 2024 Military Friendly® designations—2024 Bronze Military Friendly Employer and Military Spouse Friendly Employer—by Military Friendly,® an organization that measures the commitment of companies to create professional opportunities that leverage military experience.

“It’s an incredible honor to receive these designations,” said Heather Savage, SVP chief human resources officer. “As a credit union founded by airmen in 1956, we’ve worked hard to stick to our roots and support our military by providing meaningful career opportunities within the credit union.”

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® Employer designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over 1,200 companies participated in the 2024 Military Friendly® survey.

Those awarded the designation demonstrated a concerted effort in their ongoing dedication to programs focused on recruiting, hiring, and training military personnel and their families.

“We’re fortunate to live and work in a state with so many veterans,” said Savage. “We believe military veterans and their families possess unique skills and experiences that make them highly qualified for a number of opportunities at Arkansas Federal. That’s why we make every effort to attract veterans and their spouses from all service branches, including Guard and Reserve members, to our team.”

Arkansas Federal does this by intentionally connecting with military personnel directly at job fairs and career workshops, taking referrals, and offering some amazing benefits, such as 100% paid premiums for health, dental, and vision for employees and their dependents, tuition reimbursement, retirement matching, and more. Plus, they ensure that those who continue to serve in the National Guard or Reserves can perform their military duties without impacting their compensation.

In addition to the competitive benefits Arkansas already offers all employees, military-connected employees can appreciate the flexible employment opportunities with the possibility of transferring between Arkansas Federal jobs and even remote/hybrid work options when reassigned elsewhere due to military orders.

“Many organizations say they support veterans and their families, but Arkansas Federal goes above and beyond to prove their support through meaningful actions,” said Amber Clement, talent acquisition specialist. “When my husband received new orders to relocate out of state, Arkansas Federal didn’t hesitate to make my job remote. This allows me to have a thriving career no matter how many times my family has to relocate to a new duty station.”
