Chuck Dovish Explores Arkansas, Finds Fit with Arkansas Federal
12/10/2019
When you spend 40 years “traveling and exploring” Arkansas, you’re bound to become a household name in the Natural State.
Arkansas Federal Credit Union member Chuck Dovish has done just that and became a genuine Arkansas icon in the process. Arkansans know both his name and his face as host of “Travelin’ Arkansas,” which he hosted for 25 years on KTHV, Channel 11, in Little Rock, and beginning in 2005, through “Exploring Arkansas” on AETN and PBS.
Whether traveling or exploring, Dovish over the past four decades has taken viewers on journeys to all corners of Arkansas. His shows have educated viewers about the state, showcased its natural beauty and oftentimes revealed undiscovered hidden gems such as the Little Grand Canyon just off White Oak Lake in Ouachita County.
His shows could be considered required curriculum in Arkansas schools for the educational value they provide. But for Dovish, exploring Arkansas is as much about the people as it is the scenery and history. He and wife Kimberly recently worked with Arkansas Federal mortgage loan originator Kevin Sheredy to purchase a Greers Ferry lake house, and their experience with the credit union provided validation.
“Our experience working with Kevin was simply amazing,” Dovish said. “He patiently guided us every step of the way and was very thorough in every detail. His expertise made the whole process smooth and easy. We were pleasantly surprised with the low interest rate he was able to get for us.”
Dovish said a lake house was something he never dreamed he could afford. But Arkansas Federal has a way of turning members’ dreams into reality.
“Thanks to the low interest rate we were able to get with Arkansas Federal Credit Union, our dream home became a reality with mortgage payments that we could afford,” he said.
The Dovishes became Arkansas Federal members in 2014 when they financed their Jeep through the credit union.
“We were extremely happy with the interest rate we got then, compared to other financial institutions, and that’s why we returned to finance our dream home,” Dovish said. “No one can beat Arkansas Federal Credit Union. Period.”
Arkansas Federal was a natural fit for this Arkansas icon. Open to all Arkansans, the credit union makes it its mission to better the financial lives of members — fellow Arkansans it considers family.
“I’ve always said that what makes Arkansas so unique is the magnificent beauty that’s here, and most of all, the people,” Dovish said. “Genuine, kind-hearted folks that would do anything to help out their fellow man. Life here is what life was meant to be.”
